Welcome to my next blog.

I have a just joined a fantastic online art gallery site called Phoenix Art Gallery .co.uk. The site is slick, user friendly and accessable to all.  I've listed all my recent abstract paintings on the Phoenix Gallery site and I've also uploaded images of my latest art work below.

All the abstract paintings are large canvas works with a few oil paint and the others mixed media. I have also started to offer a framing service and have actually framed a number of my latest paintings. Welcome to my next blog.

I have a new website just launched, http://simonkenny.artweb.com , which contains my full, but not yet complete,  2012 portfolio. The work is predominantly on large canvases and are mixed media abstract colour burst paintings as well as a number of abstracted landscapes in oil paint.  I didn't actually start out with a set number of abstract paintings in mind but will be looking at around 50 works by the time the year is up, fingers crossed. Sales are still increasing dramatically with many buyers coming from overseas and over 60% of the paintings already sold not including commissions so I can't produce them quickly enough.

New art exhibitions coming up in the near future include the Dorchester Hotel London (date to be confirmed), and I am planning to join with Johnny Cotter mid July with an exhibition shortly after. Also in the pipe line is an exhibition in Barestone Court in August and another in the Creative Foundation Folkestone during the same month, further details coming shortly.

I am also offering a framing service for all my abstract paintings with a number of different frames to choose from with prices starting at £80 for a silver, black or gun metal gallery frame measuring 36 x 24", £120- 48 x 36",  £140 for a 50 x 40" canvas, further prices available by request.

Hi Folks,

It's a been an incredible year so far with interest in my work sky rocketing and sales really booming. Even in this current climate things have gone from strength to strength with a number of large corporate commissions and some exhibition prize winning to boot. My work can now be viewed in my new website:

I have a number of new abstract paintings now available that are on sale which have been created over the past six months or so.

I have begun working with oil and mixed media again after a long spell creating primarily in acrylic paint. Oil has always been a preferred medium but when I started using acrylics I loved the rapid drying time so could create a painting in a fraction of the time compared to oil so stuck with it for a few years. As you will see the abstract paintings below are varied in approach, and style. On the colour bursts I have been starting out with acrylics to create a bright base to work from, then finishing with oils and a little enamel paint.

The colour burst abstracts are all textured using various methods of manipulating modelling paste, structure gels and papers to create the desired effects. Then a huge amounts of glazes, impasto and palette knife work are applied to build up the layers and create the depth and form.
